March 30, 2009 - Shaker High School senior
Brittany Farron was recently named Section 2's top girls
basketball Scholar-Athlete.
Farron, a member of Shaker's varsity girls
basketball team, received the prestigious award for
demonstrating:
-
High standard of academic achievement
-
Good citizenship and moral character
-
Sportsmanship and leadership ability
North Colonie coaches first selected Farron
to receive the district's award, after which she was selected to
represent the Suburban Scholastic Council. She was then named
Section 2's top female Scholar-Athlete.
Farron finished her high school basketball career on a
high note. Brittany led the team in an impressive
challenge to Schenectady, the the top seeded team, in the opening
round of Sectionals. Farron's coaches say she has a strong
knowledge of the game and understand the importance of intangibles,
such as setting screens, boxing out, playing team
defense and all-around hustle.
