March 5, 2009 - Forts Ferry Elementary
students were urged to "Choose Character Over Bullying" during a
recently school assembly.
Educational speaker Cary Trivanovich brought
his hilarious and unforgettable performance to Forts Ferry to
warn students of the dangers of bullying others. Trivanovich
uses pantomime - telling stories using gestures and actions - to
engage students, get them laughing and get his message across.
The performance was sponsored by the Forts Ferry PTA.
As someone who was bullied in school,
Trivanovich relates to students who are bullied. Through his
performances, he encourages these students and gives them
helpful and practical advice. He also offers advice to bullies,
explaining that they are probably bullying other students
because they don't feel good about themselves. Although bullying
other students might make bullies feel good for a little while,
ultimately it will backfire, Trivanovich says.
Mr. Trivanovich is a lecturer/speaker,
theatre director and performance artist noted for his
revolutionary approach to pantomime. His performances have been
enjoyed in theatres, colleges, theatre festivals and cruise
ships, headlining around the world. As a lecturer and
motivational speaker, he has spoken at more than 2,500 schools,
colleges and conferences throughout the United States and
Canada.
