Trevor Avent |
February 12, 2009 - Eighth-grader Trevor
Avent of Clay Hall won Shaker Junior High School's annual
Geography Bee.
Trevor competed against seven fellow
students, who had 15 seconds to answer each question. Students
were eliminated after one incorrect answer. Superintendent Randy
Ehrenberg served as moderator.
Trevor has now completed a written essay, which Principal Moore
sent to the National Geographic Society to be graded and to
determine if Trevor qualifies for the state-level competition,
which will be held Friday, April 3 at the New York State
Museum.
The New York State winner will advance to the National
Geographic Bee — sponsored by National Geographic — which will
be held May 19-20 in Washington, D.C.
Congratulations to all of the contestants for making it to the
school-wide level!
