January 15, 2009 - Maps of the United States created by four Southgate Elementary students were featured in the Times Union newspaper on Friday, Jan. 16.

Amna Akhtar, Deja Brown, Mico Coluccio and Amber McKay participated in the Times Union’s "Color Your Dreams for America" presidential inauguration activity. The four students decorated maps of the Unites States with their hopes and dreams for the country, and the maps were selected to be published in the newspaper. The activity was created in anticipation of President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration, which will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20 in Washington, D.C.
