January 8, 2009 - More than 100 Shaker High
School students have been recognized for their outstanding
achievement on Advanced Placement exams.
With qualifying AP exam grades, students can
earn college credit, placement or both at more than 90 percent
of colleges and universities in the United States and Canada,
according to the College Board, the non-profit organization that
administers AP exams. Further, research has shown that students
who are successful in AP classes typically experience greater
academic success in college than students who did not
participate in AP, according to the College Board.
AP exams grades are based on a 5-point
scale:
5 = extremely well qualified
4 = well qualified
3 = qualified
2 = possibly qualified
1 = no recommendation
