December 23, 2008 - Board of Education member
Linda Harrison was recently honored by the New York State School
Boards Association for her efforts to improve her leadership
abilities.
The association's Leadership Development Recognition Program awarded
Harrison with a Developmental Achievement Citation for her
participation in seminars and programs designed to help school board
members develop a cohesive board team, run an efficient meeting,
interact with the media to clearly communicate messages and conduct
an effective public comment session.
The association’s programs include the Academy for Public School
Governance, Board Officers Academy, School Board Institute, legal
conferences, regional workshops and more.
School Board members earn credits for each event or activity they
participate in. Those who earn 40 credits receive a Developmental
Achievement Citation. Board members who continue to participate in
the program can earn a Leadership in Governance Certificate and then
a Master of Boardsmanship Award.
Board members Joan Hart and Mary Nardolillo have also earned
Developmental Achievement Citations.
Superintendent Randy Ehrenberg praised school board members for
their efforts to improve their ability to serve the community.
"Mrs. Harrison's award is further evidence of the tireless efforts
of our board members and other North Colonie personnel to improve
this school district," Ehrenberg said. "Although North Colonie
consistently recognized as one of the top school districts in the
Capital Region, no one will find us resting on our laurels, as Mrs.
Harrison has shown."
