December
19, 2008 - Loudonville Elementary School recently staged several
performances of "Follow that Rabbit," a musical based upon Lewis
Carol's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the
Looking Glass."
From the moment Alice fell down a rabbit
hole into the zany world of Wonderland, the fun never stopped,
and the audience members met talking birds and animals, singing
flowers, hilariously comic kings and queens… and found
themselves attending a race where the contestants run in circles
getting nowhere and everybody wins! There was a frantic tea
party ruled over by the Mad Hatter; and a funny scene where
Alice dealt with a pepper-sneezing Duchess and a baby that
turned into a pig! The finale featured Alice at the trial of the
Knave of Hearts for stealing tarts; and she was suddenly the
accused. It was a modern view of a classic where nonsense makes
good sense, and Alice even found a new friend, the
watch-carrying White Rabbit.
