December 11, 2008 - Superintendent Randy
Ehrenberg has been asked to lend her experience as a school district
administrator to provide advice to new superintendents and to evaluate materials for school administrators’ tests.
The New York State Council of School Superintendents asked
Superintendent Ehrenberg to help provide guidance to new
superintendents through the organization’s New Superintendents
Institute. Superintendent Ehrenberg participated in the
organization’s seminar held on December 5 at the Crowne Plaza hotel
in Albany.
The Institute is a year-long series of seminars that provide new
superintendents with opportunities to meet with veteran
administrators for roundtable discussions about issues they are sure
to face, such as financial and instructional leadership,
superintendent evaluations, ethics, communication strategies,
personnel management, dealing with state legislators, Regents issues
and problem-solving strategies.
Additionally, the New York State Education Department invited
Superintendent Ehrenberg to participate in the Passing Score and
Item Review Conference for the NYSTCE School Leadership Assessments,
which are tests given to prospective school administrators. The
conference is designed to provide New York State educators an
opportunity to offer their thoughts and suggestions about the test
materials. SED will use the recommendations, in part, to set the
passing score for the test.
