Boght Hills Elementary fourth-graders held a "publishing party" recently to share their memoirs with parents and classmates. The students wrote the memoirs as a writing activity during class. The students first read memoirs written by authors such as Cynthia Ryland and Patricia Polacco to gain an understanding of how and why memoirs are written. Students then used the ideas they got from the books for their assignments.
