November 26, 2008 - North Colonie Central School District’s 2007-08 Annual
Evaluation Report is now available online.
The Annual Evaluation represents the district’s internal assessment
of its instructional and support programs. The evaluation is derived
from reports submitted by building principals and department supervisors,
who have thoroughly examined and analyzed programs and made recommendations
that will help lead
the district forward and improve performance by North Colonie students
and staff.
The report includes an overview section that outlines the philosophy, components and activities that
characterize each academic program. Many of these elements remain
constant over time and therefore require minor revisions
from year to year. Following the overview, the report features assessment data,
highlights and goals for each academic subject.

North Colonie has conducted an annual review each year for more than
20 years, which Superintendent Randy A. Ehrenberg said is one reason
why the district is perennially among the top performing school
districts in the Capital Region.
Earlier this year, North Colonie placed second on The Business
Review of Albany's annual rankings of the more than 80 school
districts in 11 counties around the Capital Region. North Colonie has ranked among the top three
school districts every
year since 2003 and was ranked as the top district three years in a
row, from 2004 to 2006. The newspaper also singled out North Colonie
for its fiscal responsibility.
"In a world of constant change, we must continually assess,
revise and update our programs to ensure the curriculum is relevant,
our teachers are using up-to-date instructional methods and, above
all, that students receive a top-notch education that will enable
them to succeed in the future," Ehrenberg said. "We remain committed to providing both high
quality, comprehensive educational programs and fiscal responsibility
in North Colonie."
Members of the public are encouraged to join the Board of Education
as it discusses the report during three separate
meetings: Monday, Dec. 1, Monday, Dec. 8 and Thursday, Dec. 11 at
7:30 p.m. in the Shaker High School Conference Room.
