November
6, 2008 - Colonie Town Court Justice Peter G. Crummey visited
Loudonville Elementary School recently to talk to students about
his courtroom duties and to swear in the fifth grade's new class
officers.
Justice Crummey is one of Colonie's three
town court justices. The others are Justice Andrew Sommers and
Justice Susan Tatro. Each of the justices oversees cases that
involve parking tickets, traffic tickets, misdemeanor criminal
charges, such as petit larceny, tenant evictions and small
claims suits.
Justice Crummey visits schools regularly to help students expand
their knowledge of the judicial system. Two years ago, he
established his Gavel Awards, which honor teachers who do the
same.
