April 18, 2008 - More than 30 Shaker High School students were
recognized for their musical ability, academic excellence, school
involvement and community service in early April. The high school
held their annual inductions into Tri-M Music Honor Society, an
international honor society sponsored by the National Association
for Music Education.
New members are: Kevin Angstadt, Catherine Austin, Jacqueline
Bouchard, Te-Ching Chen, Gabriella Ciavardoni, Nicholas Cicchinelli,
Brian Clayton, Michael Davies, Simon Erdile, Brian Haller, James
Hickey, Brian Hines, Amanda Insero, Gregory Koski, Arin Kutey, Diana
Lee, Benjamin Lindsay, Conor Lindsay, Fallon Lovrin, Benjamin
Martin, Emily McDonald, Tar McNeill, Doris Pu, Steven Quirk, Thomas
Quirk, Moriah Roberts, Kira Rosi-Schumacher, Matthew Russell, Wayne
Russell, Emily Sleasman, Tyler Sowek, Kaylee Steck, Tony Sun, Irene
Van Ryn, Kristina Marie Villajuan and Allen Yu.
In addition to honoring students, recently retired and beloved music
teachers David and Sheila Kiehle were inducted into the society as
honorary members. Shaker High School senior and Tri-M member Alex
Turpin gave a heartfelt speech honoring the Kieheles for their
dedication and support.
Previous honorary members include former Board of Education member
and founder of North Colonie Friends of Music David Rosenthal, music
director of the Albany Symphony Orchestra David Alan Miller and
retired music supervisor Linda Wagner.
