On
Jan. 11, the school district and Town of Colonie joined together to
help senior citizens stay safe at home.
North Colonie Superintendent Randy Ehrenberg, Town Supervisor Mary
Brizzell, Executive Director of Colonie Senior Service Centers
Edward Neary, and five North Colonie broadcast media students
collaborated outside of Colonie's Public Operations Center Building
to begin filming a safety video series called “Safe at Home in
Colonie.”
The video series is intended to provide safety tips and best
practices from Town of Colonie emergency and medical groups to
primarily homebound senior citizens. Once the broadcast media
students complete the series, it will be broadcast on the Town’s
Public Access Channel (Time Warner Cablevision channel 17).
After the Jan. 11 filming, students will work with local police,
fire and EMS personnel to stage rescue and informational scenes for
the series. The first draft of the video is scheduled for completion
at the end of January.
Also included in the filming: North Colonie’s Career and Technical
Education (CTE) Department Supervisor Dave Arnone, Broadcast
Communications Teacher Kevin Smith, Deputy Chief of Police Richard
Villa, Director of Emergency Management & Planning Michael Rayball,
Chief of Emergency Medical Services Jon Politis, and Chief of Fire
Prevention Investigation Peter Lattanzio, who were all instrumental
in the development of this project.
