On Friday, March 30, four Shaker Junior High School teams placed at
the state-wide Olympics of the Visual Arts (OVA) competition at the
Saratoga City Center.
The junior high architecture and sculpture teams each placed first
in the competition, the drawing group placed second, and an
illustration team placed third overall.
OVA provides an opportunity for students to participate in
individual or group artistic problem solving. A new series of
problems is posed every fall, and students create long-range
solutions at their schools, and travel to the annual symposium to
compete on short-range problems in a day-long celebration of
creativity.
The OVA competition is sponsored by the NYS Art Teachers Association
(NYSATA),
