On
April 26, third grade teacher Kathy Thompson and counselor Eileen
Satterlee presented on "Pathways to Peace in the Classroom and
Community" at the NY Governor's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Leadership Symposium.
That day, Blue Creek Elementary School was also recognized as being
in the forefront of helping to promote the ideals of Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr., by promoting peace in our schools and community.
The award was signed by Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
Thompson, Satterlee and retired Blue Creek Principal Dr. Rose
Jackson began the PeaceAble School Program more than a decade ago.
"The program focuses on positive character traits along with the
skills necessary to resolve conflicts peacefully," said Blue Creek
Principal Annette Trapini. "The PeaceAble School Program has
continued to gather strength with each passing year thanks to the
leadership of Kathy Thompson and Eileen Satterlee with the support
of the Blue Creek School Success Team and the entire Blue Creek
community."
Congratulations Blue Creek!
