(Grades 6-8, plus ninth-grade orchestra winds and ninth-grade boys chorus)

The 2009 Suburban Council Music Festival will be held at Ballston Spa High School the weekend of Jan. 9-10, 2009. The festival will feature a middle school (grade 6-8) band, chorus, and full orchestra, and a high school jazz ensemble whose members will be selected from the 13 Suburban Council school districts. Ninth-grade band students may apply for the orchestra winds, and ninth-grade boys may apply for the chorus.


All students will audition on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Shaker Junior High School. Students must submit an application to be included in the audition schedule. They will receive audition music to practice and teachers will help students to prepare for the auditions.

Applications are due to the child’s music teacher by Tuesday, Sept. 30. Questions regarding the Suburban Council Festival should be directed to your child’s music teacher or to District Music Supervisor Deborah Keough (785-5511, ext. 3354).
