School History*
Maplewood has been in existence since before 1897. It was originally a one-room school, although an addition of another classroom was added in the early 1900s. However, tragedy struck in 1921 when a horrible fire destroyed the school. Construction on a new Maplewood school building soon began, and the existing building opened in 1924. The school served students in grades 1-8 with a staff of 13.

Over time, the school has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of its students and the community. On July 1, 2008, Maplewood officially became the North Colonie Central School District's seventh elementary school, serving students in grades K-6. Maplewood has a student body of approximately 185 students and approximately 30 faculty and staff members. Maplewood continues to be a source of pride and achievement for its students and the Maplewood community.
