In many respects, it seems like yesterday
that I entered Maplewood School as the
superintendent/principal. That was twenty years ago. Now I
am retiring and Maplewood School, as we know it, will close
at the end of this month after serving this community for
114 years. »

June's colors of the month
First grade’s colors of the month for
June are red and white. Everyone is
encouraged to join first grade in wearing red and white on
Thursday, June 16th. The first grade
will visit all classrooms to see everyone’s red and
white.

On Wednesday October 13th the NCCSD held our annual Elementary
Cross Country Meet at the Town of Colonie Park. Just under 500
students in grades 4-6, from all seven elementary schools
participated.

The Music department has seen a marked
increase in families who are unable to afford an instrument
for their children. Some children have requested to drop out
of band or orchestra because the instrument rental costs are
more than their parents can currently afford. »
