Second graders read When I Grow Up, by Mercer Mayer to start off this full body self-portrait project. As a group, different careers were brainstormed, and individual students had the opportunity to picture what they would look like doing certain occupations. After learning how to draw a full body the young artists then added uniforms and props to help viewers recognize what they wanted to be when they were older.
