April 2012
March was a busy time for both the school
and the PTA, and we’d like to thank the following Committee
Chairs and the many parent volunteers who helped with last
month’s PTA-sponsored programs, activities, and events:
-
Elaine Bartley for organizing the
Parents As Reading Partners (PARP) program and Kristine
Eagan, Rena Robin and Kim Inglee for coordinating the
Spring Book Fair, “The Magic of Reading!” Both programs
were very successful and well attended.
-
Amy Favreau for her hard work
coordinating the After School Arts program that ended
Monday, April 2.
-
Cissi Schaffer for planning the
well-attended late afternoon of Ice Skating at the
beginning of March, featuring the spirit and enthusiasm of
our students.
-
Kathleen McGovern and Amy Favreau and
all their volunteers who worked on this year’s Science
Fair, “Wonder Why and Find Out How.” Great Projects!
Coming soon will be information for these
PTA-sponsored programs and activities:
-
Visiting Author Series: Our Librarian,
Annesley Davis and Lynda Dranichak have arranged for
Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen to come to the school in May.
Information will be coming home about this author and the
activities planned around her visit.
-
Spring Soccer: Informational fliers
and sign-up sheets have been sent home. For those
interested in volunteering, please contact Brenda
Garretson.
-
Ecology Committee’s “Make a
Difference” Days: Cathie Love will again coordinate
hands-on learning activities for two days in May for our
students. This year’s activities will be focusing on water
usage. For those interested in helping out please contact
Cathie at
clove@nycap.rr.com.
-
Spring Photos are coming on Thursday,
April 5. Lifetouch will be at school to take pictures and
order forms went out at the end of last week. This program
does not require prepayment and you are under no
obligation to purchase photos.
It’s the PTA’s Executive nomination and
Committee selection time, and we’re looking for volunteers to
fill positions for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year. If you
are interested in participating in the PTA and want to learn
more about upcoming opportunities, please contact any one of
us. The next PTA meeting/budget presentation will be held on
Tuesday, April 17, at 7:15 PM in the School’s Library. The PTA
offers FREE childcare in the Kindergarten Room making it more
convenient for you to attend. All are welcome!
Sincerely,
Mary Fitzgibbon & Nichole Gialanella
