Student
art work
on display at Loudonville

To enable more student work to be displayed, art teachers have
decided to host monthly "shows" at Loudonville School featuring
art from each grade level. Every student in grades 1-6 grade
will have a piece of artwork represented. Each month will focus
on a different grade level. Please come by during the month of
May to view the artwork created by the district's talented
fifth-grade students!
If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact either
Miss Breen, (Lbreen@ncolonie.org) or Mrs. Hodges (LHodges@ncolonie.org).
Sixth grade musical is a success

Congratulations to all of Loudonville's sixth-graders who gave a
wonderful performance of the musical Wagon Wheels West in
late March.
Loudonville students receive recognition for writing limericks
Congratulations to Jamie Berger,
Jack Fallon-Underwood, Alex Geisel,
Lindsey Hans, Stephanie Orr, Samuel Pinheiro, Gili Rusak, Katrina
Simonsen and
Allison Tozzi, who were runners-up in the William K. Sanford Town
Library's 2008 Limerick Contest. Judges had the difficult task of
selecting just seven winners and 40 runners-up among many
outstanding entries.
The original limericks are currently on display in the youth
services section of the library.
Message from Principal Flynn
The month of March was full of
excitement at Loudonville School. I am so appreciative of the
many enrichment programs and opportunities our PTA has made
available to all students. We had a wonderful Family Dance on
March 4; we all learned a number of new folk dances.

Students learn value of making
healthy choices
Getting children to try new
foods is often challenging, but success can often lead to a
lifetime of healthy eating habits.
Loudonville students are on the right track. As part of the school’s
Fitness Day in late January, North Colonie’s Director of Food
Services Melodie Marco and food services employee JoAnn France
conducted a “Healthy Choices” seminar to teach students about
healthy choices and the benefits of healthy eating habits.

Pre-school screening
Each year a pre-school screening is conducted for students entering
kindergarten. The purpose of the screening is to look at each
child's language, social and physical development. Each child will
meet with a speech therapist, a school psychologist, a school nurse,
and a teacher. Following the screening procedure, the psychologist
will briefly review the results with parents. The screening for
kindergartners entering Loudonville School for the 2008-2009 school
year will be held by appointment on Wednesday, Feb. 27 and Thursday,
Feb. 28. Please call the office to schedule an appointment.
Computer news

when learning or to improve existing skills, consider trying one of
these free on line keyboarding websites:

keyboard in left hand list, then select a lesson from the drop down
Lesson menu) or

Early dismissal procedure
notice
In case of early dismissal,
please update your emergency contact information if it changes
so we can effectively activate the phone chain in the case of an
early dismissal. Please also remember that in the case of an
early school dismissal, the CYC after school program also
closes. Therefore, students who normally attend the program are
sent home on their regular bus.

Loudonville students celebrate annual field day on Oct. 3

Loudonville Elementary School students showed their true
colors—green, red, blue and
yellow—during the school's annual field
day celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 3. This year's theme,
"International Game Day," and events were organized by physical
education teacher Terrie Maguire and music teacher Amy Kimbler.
Students in all grade levels enjoyed live music and participation in
a variety of athletic events from around the world, including a flag
run, zig-zag relay and much more. Many thanks for all of the
