Proposed Capital Projects at Shaker Junior High School

The proposed projects at Shaker Junior High School include safety and security improvements, preventative maintenance, as well as projects to meet the needs of a growing student body.

Project highlights at Shaker Junior High School

  • Install a back-up generator and tie in to critical building electrical systems, including fire alarm, cooler, freezer, boilers, heating pumps, lighting, PA and phone, to handle emergency situations and power outages ($100,000).

  • Replace original gym air handling unit with a high efficiency roof top unit to enhance air quality and energy efficiency ($150,000).

  • Stabilize bowing exterior wall on Northwest corner of the building ($45,000).

  • Increase classroom space in technology room to accommodate course growth ($15,000).

  • Switch to an Internet-based energy management system, which would allow select maintenance staff to more effectively troubleshoot problems and adjust energy settings from any PC with an Internet connection, on or off site ($27,000).

  • Upgrade existing heating and ventilation controls to a newer, more efficient, Direct Digital Control (DDC) system, which would provide the ability to better maintain space comfort and maximize energy savings ($140,000).

Total cost at Shaker Junior High School: $477,000
