The proposed projects at Shaker Junior High
School include safety and security improvements, preventative
maintenance, as well as projects to meet the needs of a growing
student body.
Project highlights at Shaker Junior High School

Install a back-up generator and tie in to
critical building electrical systems, including fire alarm,
cooler, freezer, boilers, heating pumps, lighting, PA and phone,
to handle emergency situations and power outages ($100,000).

Replace original gym air handling unit with
a high efficiency roof top unit to enhance air quality and
energy efficiency ($150,000).

Stabilize bowing exterior wall on Northwest
corner of the building ($45,000).

Increase classroom space in technology room
to accommodate course growth ($15,000).

Switch to an Internet-based energy
management system, which would allow select maintenance staff to
more effectively troubleshoot problems and adjust energy
settings from any PC with an Internet connection, on or off site
($27,000).

Upgrade existing heating and ventilation
controls to a newer, more efficient, Direct Digital Control (DDC)
system, which would provide the ability to better maintain space
comfort and maximize energy savings ($140,000).
