Elementary students in the North Colonie Central School District are required to complete a reading assignment each summer. Students entering third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades must read at least two books, complete a "bookmark" assignment sheet for each and be prepared to discuss the books with their classmates in September.

Below are lists of books that have been recommended by the school district's teachers and librarians. These specific books are not required, and students are encouraged to select any book they are interested in to help ensure they will enjoy what they read.
