The recent hurricane in Puerto Rico left millions of American citizens without food, clean water and electricity. To aid in what will be a long process of recovery and to help with relief efforts, Southgate, Blue Creek, and Forts Ferry elementary schools collected donations from students and teachers throughout their buildings. Southgate’s English as a New Language (ENL) teacher, Jenn Samaniuk, coordinated the overall efforts, with the support of ENL teachers Bob Samaniuk, Lisa Hunter, Lisa Coons, Sara Galica and Jessica Verge. Centro Civico, a Hispanic Outreach Organization in Albany, will arrange for all collections to reach Puerto Rico. Thank you to all who donated for their generosity!
