Three Boght Hills students coordinate Nepal earthquake fundraiser

Three Boght Hills Elementary students coordinated a collective effort to raise money for the Nepal earthquake survivors, called "Dollars for Disaster". To date, $515 has been raised and donated to Save the Children Federation. »READ MORE

Fourth grade student wins Albany County District Attorney's WORDS campaign weekly contest

The Albany County District Attorney's "WORDS" campaign recently visited Boght Hills Elementary, an outreach program that travels to schools and presents about how words can either hurt or heal. Sixth grade mathematical superheroes participate in PTA fundraiser

On March 26, the Boght Hills PTA held a fundraiser at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Colonie Center. A portion of the proceeds, ($450) was earned to help the PTA provide opportunities for cultural events at school. During the event, Mrs. Compton’s sixth grade "Mathematical Superheroes" created and offered some challenging problems to solve, asking, "“Are You Smarter than a Mathematical Superhero?” »READ MORE

Boght Hills father re-enlists in the Navy, ceremony held at the elementary school

It was a special day for Boght Hills Elementary students, Joey and Grace Teson. Their father, Information Systems Technician First Class Petty Officer, Joseph Teson, re-enlisted in the Navy, taking the oath in front of fourth and fifth grade children. Teson taught the students how to stand at attention, and recited the Sailor’s Creed with them as well. »READ MORE

North Colonie sixth graders compete in Math Experience Day

Latham Ridge hosted the annual program this year and welcomed returning guest emcee, Professor Jim Matthews, from Siena College. With short breaks for refueling, groups comprised of students from the six different elementary schools worked hard for more than three hours on 12 difficult math problems. »READ MORE

Elementary school students in the Gifted and Talented Program spent a “Day in the Life of the Hudson River Estuary,” taking samples of the water and soil at the Mayor James Cavanaugh Hudson Shores Park in Watervliet. »READ MORE

Parental requests of APPR scores

All parents/guardians will have the right to obtain Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) quality ratings and composite effectiveness scores for their child’s current year’s teacher(s) and principal(s) once the scores are officially available and in accordance with state law. North Colonie plans to provide parents with the scores beginning on October 17, the date by which the final scores are due to New York State. »READ MORE
