First grade students had the opportunity to learn all about trees—not only in their classroom—but their art class as well! The students read Sky Tree, by Thomas Locker to see what happens to trees as the year goes by. Their artwork illustrates their knowledge of creating trees in all four seasons. Sponges were used for summer leaves, finger prints were used to show springtime buds, torn paper was used for fall leaves and polyester fill was used to show snow.
