A message from Principal
As the old adage goes, “April showers
bring May flowers”, but with April also comes NYS
Assessments in grades 3-6 English Language Arts and
Mathematics. Our teachers have prepared the students well
and we anticipate another successful year.
Pi Day Celebrations
On March 14, fitfth grade Boght Hills
mathematicians celebrated National Pi Day by enjoying a
breakfast that represented how they model and use strategies
to solve word problems. Students estimated, measured,
reasoned and used π to find the circumference of a variety
North Colonie elementary students
earn top spots in 15th annual Limerick Contest
Five North Colonie elementary students
earned recognition from the William K. Sanford Town Library
for their self-created Limericks. There were 242
entries in this year's competition, which spans all schools
in the North Colonie and South Colonie school districts, in
addition to all of the private and parochial schools in the
town of Colonie.
Boght Hills fifth grade visits NYS
The entire Boght Hills fifth grade
visited the NYS Capitol on Tuesday, Feb. 25th, for a field
trip to learn about the building's history and construction.
Students were split into two groups; one group got to tour
the Capitol, while the other group got to interview
Assemblyman Phil Steck and Senator Neil Breslin.
Boght Hills first and third graders make
Valentines for solider in boot camp
Mrs. Carroll’s third graders and Mrs.
Doolittle’s first graders recently spent time making
Valentines for a soldier in army boot camp who is stationed
in Fort Jackson, SC. The solider, Diana Nuñez, is the
daughter of another Boght Hills teacher, Mrs. Nuñez.
Boght Hills students become inspired at
Albany Institute of History and Art
After a trip to the Albany Institute of
History and Art, Boght Hills 6th graders decided to use
their talent to create clay scarab amulet necklaces. Their
finished products were inspired by authentic pieces they saw
during their field trip.
First grade students participate in
hands-on science activity with Siena professor
As a culmination to their science
studies, first grade Boght Hills students spent time with
Siena Astronomy Professor Moustakas, also a Boght Hills
Students participate in PTA fundraiser
The Boght Hills PTA coordinated a book
fair fundraiser at the Colonie Center Barnes and Noble
Bookstore. Many students had art work on display,
sang, or played instruments.

New Boght Hills PTA website
PTA President David Morlitz has launched
a new website specific to the Boght Hills PTA. The new site
will be used for credit card payments, surveys, last minute
event announcements, etc. »GO

Boght Hills K-Kids collect food to feed
580 non-perishable food items were
collected by the Boght Hills K-Kids during the month of
