Romy Gribulis, a student in Mrs. Sumner’s kindergarten class at Boght Hills School, received a certificate and gift card from four representatives from the Albany County Department for Children, Youth, and Families for winning first place in the 2017 Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month Poster Contest.

The representatives engaged the class in a discussion of what being safe means and reviewed the various adults who keep children safe on a daily basis.

Mrs. Sumner also received a gift card for her class and each student received a hardcover copy of the book Officer Buckle and Gloria by Peggy Rathman.

Mrs. Sumner allowed Romy to decide how to use the gift card. Romy chose a standing art easel and a variety of different kinds of markers for use by all students in the class.
