Basketball coaching legend, three other SHS athletes inducted into
Hall of Fame
Shaker High School boys basketball coaching legend Julius Girmindl and three former Shaker
athletes were inducted into the All-Sport Booster Club Athletics Hall of
Fame on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Girmindl, who coached the boys basketball team for 20 years
(1963-83), won numerous league and Section 2 titles and posted an
astonishing 304-130 career record. Under Girmindl's leadership, the
team finished second in the
1979-80 state championship tournament. Coach Girmindl passed away in
1983. His daughter, Staci Girmindl, accepted the award on his
behalf.
Joining Girmindl in the Athletics Hall of Fame was:

Kris Eglin, '97, Wrestler: Set school
record with 117 wins; two-time Class A champion; won Section
2 tournament and 2nd in State.

Brian Ellrott, '95, Volleyball:
Exceptional Volleyball player at Shaker, in the Suburban
Council and Section 2. Mr. & Mrs. Elrott accepted the award
on Brian's behalf.

Kristin Galuski, '03, Field Hockey:
Shaker’s all-time scoring leader with 62 goals; NFHCA High
School All-American; 2003 Times Union Scholar Athlete
Awards, 1st Runner-up.
The induction ceremony was held at
The Century House Restaurant in Latham.
