2006-07 Hall of Fame Inductees

Cassandra Cardinell (2000)

  • At Shaker she was the NYS Champion and State Record holder in Diving. She was Section 2 Champion numerous times. She still holds the school record in Diving.

  • Member of the 2004 10 meter synchronized Diving Team (Placed 7th)

  • In 2004-05 school year she was selected as Indiana University’s Athlete of the Year.

  • 2004 Olympian – only the 3rd Shaker athlete to ever make the Olympics.

  • In 2005, competing for Indiana University she was the NCAA 10 meter diving Champion as well as the BIG 10 champion and record holder.

  • She has competed for the United States on many national teams and has traveled the world – place such as china, Korea, Russia, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Germany.

  • She was elected as an Athletic Representative for the U.S. Diving and attended the 26th annual US Aquatic Sports Convention in 2005.

  • She has a BA degree in Telecommunications and was named to ESPN magazine as Academic All-American Team.

Courtney Clemente (2000)

  • Was on the Varsity Tennis Team since 7th grade

  • NYS Champion in Doubles in 1999

  • Section 2 Doubles Champion

  • Senior Year was the Team’s captain and MVP

  • Excelled in 3 different sports, tennis, lacrosse and gymnastics – received the prestigious Shaker White Letter Award

  • She was one of our top All-American gymnasts

  • In Lacrosse she was our top scorer with 60 goals – a new school record

  • Was a Scholar Athlete throughout her High School career

David Coughlin (2000)

  • In his senior year he was named the Section 2 Player of the Year and Section 2 All-American

  • He was the Shaker Lacrosse all time leading scorer with 171 goals

  • He was the Team’s MVP and captain in 2000

  • He was a 3 year Varsity starter, leading the team in scoring his sophomore year with 34 goals and 17 assists

  • He holds the team record for scoring 8 goals in a game

  • He is a graduate of SUNY Oneonta where he made the SUNYAC Conference All-Star Team

  • He ended up being ranked 5th in all-time leading career points for goals and assists at Oneonta.

Jason Sherwin (2000)

  • He was an all around athlete who excelled in 3 sports, football, track and lacrosse

  • He was a 4 year Varsity starter in football and lacrosse

  • In football he became the 6th all time leading passer for Section 2 as a quarterback

  • He was selected to represent NYS in the Golden 50 game versus New Jersey

  • He was named as the 1st Team All Suburban quarterback in 1999

  • In football, he was selected as the Times Union Offensive Player of the Year

  • In lacrosse, he became Shaker’s 6th all time leading scorer with 92 goals

Eric Taylor (2000)

  • He was the Team Captain his senior year in both soccer and basketball here at Shaker

  • In basketball, he was on the All-Area All-Star Team his senior year and All-Suburban his junior and senior years

  • During his junior year basketball season, he led the team to a Suburban Council Tournament Championship and averaged 13 points per game

  • In his senior year, he averaged 17.3 points per game and had 80 blocked shots

  • In soccer, he was our starting goalie for his junior and senior year

  • He played basketball for 4 years at Cornell University where he scored over 1000 points.

  • He was the only player at Cornell to be named captain his sophomore, junior and senior years

  • Currently he is playing professional basketball in France

Mark Teson (1999)

  • Mark was named Shaker’s Best All Around Athlete in 1999 for his accomplishments in football and baseball

  • In baseball, he was the Team captain for 2 years and the MVP in 1998

  • For the Empire State Games (Adirondack Region) he was the team captain in 1997 and 1998 when they won back to back gold medals

  • In football he was the team captain, MVP and offensive player of the year for 2 years

  • In 1999 he had over 2000 all purpose yards for punt and kick off returns, receiving and rushing

  • He continued his athletic career on the baseball team at Dowling College where he started 49 out of 50 games as freshman

  • He went on to Frostburg State where he was the team captain for 3 years

  • Mark played minor league baseball in Kansas City
